SUTTON, Mass.- The Sutton Boys Basketball team dropped a tough 55 - 46 game to Nipmuc on Tuesday night as they lost a nine point lead entering the final quarter.

Nipmuc's Joe Mespelli scored 16 points to lead his team, 12 of them from the free throw line and was a perfect 10 for 10 in the final quarter. Nipmuc also was led by Derek Moore with 13 points and Nate Bertrand with ten.

Sutton's Mac Roy led all scorers with 25 points including 5 from 3 point range. Gordy Smythe also chipped in 8 points for the Sammies.

Sutton was outscored 23-5 in the final quarter and with the loss falls to 7-6. The Sammies have lost 6 of their last 7 games since the start of 2012.

The Sammies will try to rebound from their slump on Monday against South High Community School at 7 p.m. in Sutton.

In earlier action, the Sammies JV team narrowly defeated Nipmuc 40-37 behind Freshman Matt Soule's 18 points in the second half.
