To the Editor:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the residents of the town of Millbury for over two decades of support they’ve shown to the Millbury Adult Day Health Center. Auburn VNA Health Network (AVHN) is dedicated to offering seniors the finest in adult day care and is proud to continue our commitment to our adult day health participants through our mission of offering care and compassion with the utmost dignity and respect.

On September 26th Pakachoag Gardens, formerly known as Millbury Adult Day Health, opened its doors at a new, larger location at 203 Pakachoag Street in Auburn. The new name and new facility location are direct results of the AVHN’s dedication to providing our participants, which include residents of Millbury, increased service and program offerings and a more spacious and pleasant environment in which to receive care.

In order to offer our participants more services and increase our capacity to accept more seniors into the program, it was necessary to make a move to a more suitable home, which would meet state requirements. While change is never easy, being able to offer our existing participants, along with new participants, an expanded program made our decision much easier.

Our Board of Directors was pleased to see the cohesiveness of this strategic initiative and supports the expansion of the opportunities offered in our adult day program. In early July, each and every one of our existing participants received a personal phone call explaining the upcoming move, the reasons behind it, and we made certain the transition was easy and seamless for our participants.

I am happy to say that all of our existing participants continue to be a part of Pakachoag Gardens and enjoy a facility much more conducive to their needs. At the heart of our organization is the care of all our participants. We embrace each of our adult day participants as though they are a member of our own family, and in wanting to improve their daily environment, we chose to make this move.

The Auburn location offers our participants a larger facility providing one level for easy access, a courtyard where a garden will be created, and the Pakachoag Music School is located within the building, enabling the possibility of a comprehensive music therapy program. The new location is in close proximity to AVHN’s main office, which offers the staff of Pakachoag Gardens additional support.

We offer our most sincere gratitude for the years the Millbury Adult Day Health Center was located in the town of Millbury, and look forward to continuing our support to seniors from Millbury and surrounding communities, with easy access to our new and improved facility, offering participants expanded programs, and more amenities than ever before.

We invite the community to join us for the Open House for Pakachoag Gardens on Wednesday, October 26th, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, with the Ribbon Cutting and Presentations at 5:00 PM, at 203 Pakachoag Street, Auburn.

Sincerely,

Kimberly M. Harmon BSN, RN
