MILLBURY, Mass. - This weekend there are some great local events going in Millbury that will be fun for the entire family. We encourage our readers to get out and support our local community.

Friday:
Iwo Jima Day at the Massachusetts State House- Normally this event takes place on Feb. 19, however due to the Holiday on Monday, the state will celebrate the 67th Anniversary of the pivotable battle of Iwo Jima during WWII with a parade in Boston and ceremonies both inside and outside the State House.
Local members of the Marine Corps League and other veterans will be taking part in the ceremonies from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Tifton Carver Worship Band- The Tifton Carver Worship Band is a five-piece Christian band from New Britain, CT. Its members blend their own version of worship music, light rock and country. They will be performing at the Mill St. Cafe on River St. from 7 - 9 p.m.

Saturday:
Auburn- Millbury Hockey Team- The combined hockey team from Auburn-Millbury will be playing on Saturday night in Auburn against Marlborough at 7 p.m.

Sunday:
Millbury Fire Dept. Pancake Breakfast- The Millbury FD will be holdiing a pancake breakfast from 6 - 11 a.m. at Station 2 next to Lake Singletary. This was supposed to be held in conjunction with the 25th Annual Ice Fishing Derby but that was cancelled.

Millbury High School Girls Basketball- The Girls basketball team will be playing in a tournament game against Westborough, the time is still TBA

**NOTE** With the schools on vacation next week be sure to keep abreast of the goings on in town, the Millbury Public Library will be having events and programs every day including the New England Aquarium Petting Zoo on Weds.Feb. 22 from 1 - 4 p.m.
