MILLBURY, Mass. - The Millbury Fire Department held a Pancake Breakfast on Sunday morning from 6 - 11 a.m. at Station 2 next to Singletary Lake.
It was originally supposed to be held in conjunction with the 25th Ice Fishing Derby on Singletary Lake but due to the unseasonable warm weather, the fishing derby was cancelled.
The Millbury Fire Department had a nice breakfast of pancakes, sausage, bacon along with coffee, milk and juice as well as a host of volunteers to serve the residents.
Town Selectman Francis King was at the door selling raffle tickets for a nice .50 caliber rifle with scope that the Fire Department was raffling off and King was pleased with the number of residents who turned out so early.
But King wasn't the only public figure there as Sen. Michael Moore (D-Millbury) as well as former selectman and now television show host Joe Coggans were there and speaking with residents.
There was a steady stream of people going in and out, one can only imagine how crowded it would have been had the ice been frozen this week and the fishing derby had been able to go off as planned.
Planning is already on-going for the Millbury Fire Department's Field Day in August, this year should be even better than last year as the firefighters are working hard to bring more fun and events to the schedule. More details will be forthcoming as they become available.

Just another example of man made climate change, keep voting for Scott Brown and you'll never ice fish in Millbury again. I bet you couldn't even ice fish in Wassilla this year, you betcha!
